I found a great definition on the Shopify encyclopedia about branding which says:
Branding is all of the ways you establish an image of your company in your customers’ eyes.
This definition is exactly the way DYNAMIKWORKS used the term branding. So let’s talk about the elements of the definition for better understanding.
First, the image of your company.
Not all companies have the luxury of having a great image. Oftentimes the company has no image because they are a new company or customers only know the product. If the latter is the case then the company’s image is just the product and the feeling using the product invokes.
All of the above is a sufficient place to begin to brand a company or create their mark. It’s all about the customer, which means you must create a feeling in your customers if your company is new or if you have an existing company and want to refresh your brand.
All of this is branding but now let’s talk about “All of the Ways” in which we can brand a company.
- Logo with icon
- Audio / Visual Commercial
- Printed material
These are the tangible ways or the products created from the branding process; however, there are some intangible ways to brand.
- A thought process
- A Style
- A way of doing business
These are all things that go into creating a brand that matches your company and creates the feeling in your customers that you want them to have, helping them (the potential customer) become an active customer. This being the main reason for branding your company in the first place.
As a result of the above information we want to change the definition of branding.
Branding is the feeling created by the imagery which represents your company to draw customers.
This is the ONSIGHT meaning of BRANDING.
